The Kings, OGMA’s 2001 Gospel Instrumentalist of the Year for the state of Ohio, from Hocking County, Ohio, have a full time singing ministry. The group has performed over 1,400 concerts in 14 states in the past 9 years.
The group specializes in diversity, from inspirational violin duets to beautiful Southern Gospel and Country Gospel harmony, to banjo and mandolin picking to twin fiddling Bluegrass style, to yodeling. Their family harmony and sincerity have touched thousands over the past nine years.
Mission Statement
The Kings’ desire is to sing and to play music unto the Lord in order to reach the lost, to encourage those who have already accepted Christ as their Saviour and to inspire young people to get active in church work and to play an instrument or sing for God.
The Kings’ History
The Kings sang in their own church for many years, but they were inspired to start a regular group in October, 1996. Since that time,
they have
performed over a thousand concerts in churches, nursing homes,
festivals, fairs, banquets, camp meetings, fund raisers, conventions,
and campgrounds. They have performed with these well known groups or
individuals: The Lewis Family, Carl Hurley, The Perrys, The Singing
Cookes, Kevin Spencer and Friends, The Pfeiffers, The Nelons, The
Journeyman, Won By One, Betty Jean Robinson, The Easter Family, Dixie
Melody Boys, The Freemans. They have also recorded tem audio
recordings and five video recordings containing 55 original songs
written and composed primarily by Sue, the mother of the group.
The Kings
have won numerous awards for singing and playing
including the following:
- Ohio’s Gospel Music Association’s 2001’s
Instrumentalist of the Year for the state of Ohio
- Jonathan was Country Gospel Connection’s
2003’s Young Male Vocalist of the Year
- 1st place
as a group at Renfro Valley, Kentucky’s Gospel Talent

- Sarah tied for first place at
Renfro Valley, Kentucky’s children’s Soloist Gospel Talent search at the
age of 12
- Top Award for singing at Ohio’s
achievements fair for home schoolers
- Jonathan won top award for playing banjo
at Ohio’s achievements fair for home schoolers
- Sarah and Jonathan have won numerous
awards and trophies for both classical violin and fiddle
