There are tons of stars in the field, including <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/golf\/lpga-news-nelly-korda-withdraws-golf-event-dog-attack\">World No. 1 Nelly Korda<\/a>. Australian golfer Hannah Green is the two-time defending champion of the event. But it is an LPGA rookie that might be having the most fun in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese phenom Akie Iwai is making her debut at the JM Eagle LA Championship. Luckily for her, the Los Angeles Dodgers happened to be at home this week while she is in town.<\/p>\n<p>So, she did what nearly any Japanese athlete would do in that situation: she caught a Dodgers game.<\/p>\n<p>Iwai went to Monday night\u2019s game between the Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers won 5-3, but that\u2019s not really what excited the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActually, we went to a Dodgers game on Monday. It was fun. I watched a home run. Yeah, Shohei Ohtani,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jillpainter\/status\/1913028291424030883\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she said prior to teeing off<\/a> on Thursday. The LPGA rising star then adorably clapped in excitement for the Japanese baseball star.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Asked Japanese rookie Akie Iwai if she\u2019s a Shohei Ohtani game and if she got to a \u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dodgers?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Dodgers<\/a>\u2069 game while she\u2019s here in LA playing <img src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"\u26f3\" class=\"wp-smiley lazyload\" style=\"height: 1em;max-height: 1em\" data-src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.1.0\/72x72\/26f3.png\"> in the \u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JMEagleLAChamp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JMEagleLAChamp<\/a>\u2069. It was his sixth home run of the season already, as <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/dodgers-news-shohei-ohtani-stats-move\">Ohtani is off to another hot start<\/a>. He is the reigning National League MVP and is considered a true unicorn in baseball.<\/p>\n<p>That is because he is nearly as great a pitcher as he is a hitter. Unfortunately, injuries kept him from pitching last season after <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/angels-bryce-harper-shohei-ohtani-ucl-injury\">Ohtani suffered a UCL tear<\/a> in 2023. The Dodgers are hoping he can find his way back to the mound this season, though.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the LPGA rookie shot herself into contention on Thursday. She carded a 6-under 66 in Los Angeles and was three shots off the lead. However, Minjee Lee is on fire Friday.
