The 2025 NFL Draft has officially concluded in Green Bay.

Teams around the league now have a clearer picture of what their roster could look like in Week 1, adding some solid prospects that can help turn their team around.

While many teams have made their picks and moved on, it’s clear that people aren’t ready to stop talking about Shedeur Sanders and his shocking slide to the fifth round.

Mel Kiper Jr., one of the most respected draft analysts in the industry, has been very vocal about Sanders not being taken sooner, and he’s not the only analyst to have this opinion.

Michael Wilbon has also been adamant about this slide, defending Kiper on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption.”

“Shedeur Sanders being on that board in the fifth round was a joke,” Wilbon said, adding, “Mel Kiper got this right when he said this is personal.”

“Shedeur Sanders being on that board in the fifth round was a joke. It’s a travesty… Don’t tell me that everybody in the draft is… pic.twitter.com/tve123tUS2

Whether it’s a vendetta about Sanders himself, or his father and his potential influence on the Browns moving forward, Wilbon is convinced that there was something else going on during the draft.

To him, if it were just about the talent, it would have been a no-brainer to take Sanders in the first round.

With more and more reports about Sanders tanking certain interviews with teams that he didn’t want to go to, however, other analysts believe this slide has more to it than what meets the eye.

It will be interesting to see how Sanders moves forward after all this controversy, and what kind of quarterback he’ll turn into over the next several months and years.

With any luck, he’ll be exactly what the Browns were looking for, turning around this narrative and making a name for himself.
